Who owns your product photos? Here’s the plain-English answer.
Shoot with Image Factory West and the finished images are yours to use after payment - anywhere, forever, for your brand’s ecommerce, advertising, and marketing. This page walks through what that covers, the one boundary, and the odd cases: retailers, edits, and what happens if you sell the company.
Your images work for you. Anywhere. Forever.
Every finished image comes with full commercial usage rights - worldwide, in perpetuity. Put them on your Amazon and Shopify listings, your website, your ads, your social channels, your email, your packaging. No annual license renewals, no per-channel fees, no expiration date.
There’s exactly one boundary: the images promote your product - they aren’t products themselves. You can’t resell the files as standalone assets, and image rights don’t transfer to a new business owner without a quick sign-off from us. Everything else is fair game.
Copyright and usage rights are two different things.
In commercial photography, the studio that creates an image holds the copyright, and the client buys a license to use it. That’s the standard arrangement across the industry - buying photography almost never means buying the copyright itself.
Where studios differ - wildly - is the license. Many meter it: two years, one region, web only, then a renewal invoice. Read those terms before you hire anyone, because a license that expires can take your best-converting listing image down with it.
Ours doesn’t work that way. The license on IFW images is perpetual and worldwide for your brand’s commercial use, and it’s included in the per-image price you see in the pricing guide. The question that actually matters is “can anything stop me from using my images?” Here, the answer is no.
Use them everywhere you sell.
Your images aren’t stock photos to resell.
The license covers your brand using the images. It doesn’t make the files themselves something you sell. In practice, that means two situations need a conversation first:
Usage rights, rapid fire.
Rights sorted. Now make the images.
Per-image pricing, 5-7 day turnaround, and every finished image yours to use forever. This page is the plain-English version - the exact terms for your project ride along with your written estimate.
